“I was thrilled when I was told that Sarah would be the editor of my second book. I have a deep respect for her as a writer and a champion of poetry so I knew I would be in safe hands. Sarah’s editorial approach and suggestions were very thoughtful and provided a much-needed fresh point of view. I found her questions and comments extremely useful, tackling everything from the small details to the bigger picture.” – Chris Tse

“I chose Sarah to edit my second collection because I admire her skill and style as a writer, and she has an excellent reputation as an editor. The feedback she gave helped my manuscript snap into a clearer shape with few actual changes. I felt Sarah met the work where it was at, rather than imposing form or style ideas, helping me make it the best version of itself, rather than watered down or homogenised version. Sarah’s editing input and communication during the process, was professional, kind, and generous – I felt seen both as a writer and a person. It was a privilege to work with her and I hope I get to again soon.” Simone Kaho

“Sarah’s assistance in reviewing and improving my current work-in-progress has been invaluable. I immediately felt she connected with my writing and understood my intentions. She asked insightful questions and offered suggestions on ways to get around issues within the text. I’m so pleased to have found Sarah’s expertise and support, and I will definitely seek her out again for future projects.” Louise Wallace

“I'm always hesitant to enter any editing process because, as a writer, I feel like my own voice and thoughts are at stake. However, from very early on in the process, I felt confident that Sarah was a generous and perceptive person who understood the content, tone and craft of my manuscript. Her comments were always leading and generative--'would you consider...'; 'doing x would also allow y'; 'I want to see more of the writer in the work here'; 'A concrete image would make this thought more tangible' etc. This allowed for a rich and rewarding to-and-fro that felt like a conversation between peers. It also improved the work in ways that I could not have foreseen myself. I get so into my research and close to my work that I find it impossible to fully appreciate or anticipate the experience of the reader. With Sarah, I felt like a window was opened onto her experience, and some fresh air was blown in. I recommend Sarah without reserve and thank her for reading my work so closely and entering into its spirit of asking a reader to do so.” Jodie Dalgleish

Sarah was recommended to me as a smart and safe pair of hands for my first experience of an editor. The fresh eyes of her perspective were supportive and respectful. Clear and warm, Sarah was a gentle and precise editor throughout our collaboration. Where she saw issues with my manuscript, she made suggestions to sort them. Her edits didn’t get in the way of the mood, rhythm and territory of the piece but helped to make them stand out more clearly. When Sarah told me what she thought, asked questions and made suggestions, they were in service of my writing and vision as well as what may have more meaning for readers. Throughout the editing process, Sarah honoured my voice. I enjoyed the experience and its nuggets of learning.” – Sally Forman

“Sarah was a fantastic editor. She constructively critiqued and adapted my work while simultaneously maintaining my voice and character within the words. I learned a lot.” – Grace Georgia Stratton
